Wednesday, March 31st, 2010Dramatic B&W…
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010
So the theme at I heart Faces this week is Dramatic B&W. When I first took this picture I wasn’t very excited about the lighting. It was a lot more harsh than I had wanted it, but the more I played with it and looked at it the more I began to like it. I love that the wrods on the wall go so well with the overall pic. After all, who hasn’t just wanted to sit down and just not deal with life at one point or another.
Make sure you visit I heart faces and check out some more of the dramatic B&W pics.

Sunday, March 28th, 2010I heart Faces Angles…
Monday, March 22nd, 2010In looking for ways to improve our photography I have taken a page out of my cousins book and decided to take part in I heart faces. It is a website with a different assignment each week that will help pull you out of your normal way of doing things. This weeks challenge was to use angles in a way that is different from what you normally do. It was ironic that this was the subject this week because a guy I work with at my full time job was commenting just the other day that good photography is all about the angles. You can take what would normally be just a normal picture and make it amazing just by changing the angle. While it seems like a simple thing to do, anyone who has done photography for a while knows how hard it is to force yourself to change what you are comfortable with. Anyhow, here is our submission for the week. I know it is our main pic on our blog page, but it is also one our favorite pics ever.

When I was a senior in High School. Has it really been 11 years? It’s always fun and a little nostalgic when we go out and do senior pic sessions. Fortunately we had a beautiful (albeit somewhat cold) day today so we headed downtown and got a few shots. Urban shots work well for anyone, but I think they work especially well for guys.
Summer fun,

When we decided to redo our blog we new that we needed to have a topic that we posted on every week. As I was driving to work yesterday it struck me how beautiful the small and simple things in this world are and so our new feature is going to be World of Wonder Wednesdays, or WWW for short. I know that this post is technically on a thursday but since I didn’t get the new blog up and running until just before I went to work yesterday my first WWW post is a day late. Sorry!.
This picture was taken about two years ago on a Summer afternoon. The firefighters had come to make inspections on the fire hydrants and after checking them they hooked the engine up to it and sprayed all the neighborhood kids with water. Everyone had so much fun! Afterwards we got the opportunity to show the kids the engine. Don’t you love how excited children get about even the smallest things (or in this case a fairly big fire engine)? One of the things we love so much about photography is that it helps us to notice all the things in this world that make it so wonderful to be alive. I sometimes wish I could be young again and see the world how children see it where everything is new and exciting.
Change, change, change
